Pastor Jeff Nelson
Jeff was born just outside Detroit, Michigan, and lived the first eight years of his life in communities around the Great Lake State. His father's work as a pastor eventually brought his family to Wooster, Ohio, and then to nearby Orrville, where he graduated high school.
During his senior year, he discerned his own call to ministry and made plans to major in religion at Heidelberg University in Tiffin. While there, he met his future wife, Andrea. Jeff graduated from Heidelberg in 2001, at which point he began his studies at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He and Andrea were married in 2002, and he graduated with his Master of Divinity in 2004.
Jeff was called to serve as pastor of Emanuel in November of 2004, during which time he has discovered and nurtured his passions for worship, service, and trends in church and culture. He believes that the church must be committed to serving in mission and in growing disciples, and in seeking ways to be faithful as believers in the 21st century.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, playing a variety of instruments, reading, writing, and unapologetically keeping up with sports teams north of the Ohio border.
On most Friday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m., Jeff is available for conversation at the Hollow Creek Cafe in Doylestown.
